Bio
Hello again.
With my hard-earned wealth of professional film-production experience, I was inspired more than ever to head up my own film projects, so I teamed up with my former classmate, writer/director Ryan Oxford, to produce our own full-length feature film “Davis is Dead". Two feature films and several odd projects later I found myself confidently in the producer's seat, networking ideas and swimming in options.
In 2002 I needed some time off from Los Angeles so I followed my heart to unexplored experiences of life, moving from Los Angeles to London. In 2003, I returned to Los Angeles energized by my lifestyle detour. I began to explore new possibilities in music video and commercial production, quickly establishing myself as a first-call production manager and national/international bidder for high-end commercial production companies such as Aero Film, @radical.media, RSA, Partizan, Uncle, Villains, The Director’s Bureau, and Bob Industries, to name a few.
As of 2009, I have been producing commercials and music videos for three years, and my body of work includes overseeing the recent 2008 Target Campaign, a major achievement which marked the first time a single production company had been hired and responsible for creating ALL of the broadcast, internet, and still-photo elements for the entire campaign. In addition to Target, some of my more recently produced work includes spots for Mitsubishi, Dove Chocolate, and music videos for such diverse artists as Natalie Cole, and the top selling hard-rock act, Disturbed.
All of this work has also meant a great deal of travel, and I'm very experienced with the production skills necessary to shoot on the streets of NYC, the studios of LA, or just about any point in-between. I pride myself on being able to deal well with pressures of production and enjoy finding creative solutions to the inevitable challenges which present themselves on every production.
In my free time I continue to write and record music and of course I love to travel.
I’m Lawrence, a native Southern Californian, and I started my career in film production back in the 70’s when my parents let me use their Super 8mm film camera. Flash-forward to the 90’s which found me simultaneously attending Cal State Fullerton full-time while working as a budding copywriter / stage-manager for a popular local newscast. Eventually, my responsibilities included all aspects of news production for the station, and soon I was going out in the field, prepping, shooting, and editing my own local-color stories for the nightly broadcast.
Seizing the opportunity to make the most of my position at the station, I successfully pitched my idea for a variety show series that focused on music, arts, and entertainment. For the next two years, while still a full-time student, I produced the show and researched, reviewed, interviewed local and national rock bands, theater groups, actors, and artists such as No Doubt and Social Distortion. I gained priceless production and problem-solving experience during countless late-night hours spent designing and building sets for my show, shooting host wraparounds, and editing together hours of footage.
After graduating with a degree in Radio, TV and Film Communications, my show wound down and I took the opportunity to work as a writer’s assistant on two network television series, "Second Chances", and "Hotel Malibu" starring Jennifer Lopez.
Upon the completion of my tenure on the series I moved into feature films, quickly rising through the ranks from producer's assistant to production coordinator and then to production supervisor. I became fully immersed in all stages of production on major motion pictures, and I have an excellent track record and references for my work at Warner, Disney, Dimension, Miramax, on a varied slate of movies such as “Memento”, “Biker Boys”, and “Scary Movie 2”.
